At the time we met “our breeders” Barbara & Dan Davis approximately 7 years ago my Husband and I were the owners of one wonderful standard poodle, Jamaica. I did not know that my Husband had been looking for a black male standard as a surprise for me. He thought it was time to add to our family. That is when our friendship with the Davis’s began. I will never forget arriving at the Davis’s and Barbara coming out to greet me with two puppies running out from under her long skirt. One was black and the other apricot. The black puppy immediately ran to me and it was love at first sight. A few weeks later we brought Onyx home to join our family. Jamaica was not sure about Onyx at first but they got to be very good friends. Onyx is a beautiful boy to this day, well mannered and a joy to have around. A year after Onyx joined our family we lost my Mother, then 2 months exactly to the date of my Mother’s death we had to put Jamaica down due to an inoperable cancerous tumor. Onyx was so alone for a long time. He never got to say goodbye to Jamaica. My Father, who I am blessed to say is almost 93 reads the newspaper front to back including the classifieds. A couple of years after we lost Jamaica Dad ran across an ad for standard poodles and remembered the name, Barbara Davis listed. We were once again on our way to Waxahachie to look at another beautiful litter of Davis puppies. Several weeks later we came home with Bailey, our apricot baby boy. Barbara and Dan Davis and their family have been part of our family now for many years. We cannot say enough about them as real people first as well as professionals in their breeding business. They have been breeding standards for over 30 years now and we would recommend them to anyone looking for a quality, well bred standard poodle. We are about to deepen our relationship with Barbara and Dan. We are going to be grandparents at the end of June 2008 . We have bred our apricot Bailey to their beautiful red Sara. How lucky we will all be.
